Back to School the Olympic Way!

The first thing I like to do when school starts is assess my students to see how much they remember from last year. That’s why I came up with these quick assessments to easily check where my students are.  Some may only be able to tell me which letter comes before or after in the alphabet, while others will tell me what a digraph is.

These forms are also helpful to review and get students back into the groove of school.

Included you will find 10 language arts pages covering everything from the alphabet, short and long vowels, digraphs, compound words, and more.

You will also receive 10 math pages that begin with counting to 20, 50, and 100 and move into adding single and double digit numbers then subtracting single and double digit numbers.  Neither have regrouping.

I’ve also included two writing prompts given in a variety of formats depending on what level you teach.

Erin Condren Lesson Planner 2016

I've been printing my lesson plans digitally for a couple of years now but this year I just couldn't resist the Erin Condren excitement!!

While the digital lesson plans worked well there is something to be said for writing out your lesson plans.  On the digital plans I had to white out things when they didn't work out but with hand written plans I can erase, fix and move on.

So let me tell you about my experience!  First I liked how I could track my planner since I was so excited for its delivery.  It ended up arriving one day earlier than originally expected. Woot Woot.

Next I like the packaging; the box, the tissue paper, the "enjoy" sticker, etc. It was like Christmas morning just opening it up.

Then there is was!  (You might have to be a teacher to truly appreciate the excitement of seeing your planner for the first time).  I must not have filled out something to get it engraved because mine doesn't have my name on the front cover... that's okay... next time.

Isn't it pretty??!!!   I can't wait to begin filling it in.

Do you like the electronic planners or the paper planners?

Summer Reading

Getting my class ready for summer reading with a fun bubblegum activity I found from Lori Evans. Students read until the flavor of their gum is gone. Then they record their reading by coloring one of the gum balls in their booklet. Such a great way to keep kids reading all summer long!!

Goals for 2016

Happy New Year!!! Are you as excited as I am to set new goals and start fresh.  I know I probably wont' get passed January 5th but hey its fun to try!

A good deed I'm going to do: Donate my time to others... I love to come home from school and curl up in my comfy chair and hide after a long day of school but this year I'm going to come out of my comfort zone and make myself available for some service.

A new skill I'm going to learn: I need to improve my networking techniques so my TPT business will do better.  This is my year!! It's going to happen.

A book I'd like to read: Scriptures! I love reading the scriptures but I just don't make time for them... everything else comes first.  So this year I'm going to prioritize!

A bad habit I'm going to break: I LOVE to drink Coke especially in a tall cup with ice!  Lately I've been really overdoing it so I've at least got to cut down on my intake!!

I'm going to do better at: Exercising.... confession.... I HATE to exercise.  But I've got to do it! This is the year.  Ugh!

A person I hope to be more like: Myself!  I tend to envy those who are successful and compare myself to them.  I need to focus on what my style is and develop that.
