Back To School Survival Kit--FREEBIE!

Are you preparing for B2S??? I've started putting together our survival bags.  My students LOVE to receive these at Open House the day before school starts. When my students come to the open house I have them complete a scavenger hunt and then give them one of these survival bags.

Materials you will need:

  • White paper bags
  • Erasers
  • Smarties
  • Lifesavers
  • Pencils
  • Laffy Taffy
  • Starburst

First I glue the oval survival kit label to the front of the white paper bag.

Next I put this card in each bag. The card says:

Welcome to my class!
I am so glad you are here!
I have made you a bag of goodies,
to help describe our year.

The eraser is to let you know
it is okay to make mistakes.
We will correct them and learn from them
no matter what it takes!

The "smarties" say I know you are smart,
and really special too.
The "lifesaver" is to remind you
that I am here for you.

The pencil represents the learning
that we will do.
School can be pretty tough,
but it is a ton of fun too!

The "Laffy Taffy"says we will laugh a lot,
while traveling through the year you see.
The "starburst" is to let you know
you are a star to me!

The goodies I include in the bag are mentioned in the card above. The goodies are:

  • An eraser
  • Smarties
  • A Lifesaver
  • A Pencil
  • A Laffy Taffy
  • A Starburst

Really?? A Month Away??

Hi Everyone,
My fun-lovin' coworker decided to text me yesterday and remind me that the first day of school is only a month away!!  ARE YOU KIDDING ME???  We start back on August 13th! Why does the school year go so slowly and the summer so quickly??

So I got into gear and started on the Birthday Bags!  I love to give my students a bag of goodies on their birthday as a little gift.  The bags don't have much in them but they seem to make my kiddos happy.  Below you will find a picture of  the bags, I am making 30 this year.  Our school is growing with new homes being built like crazy so even if I start out with 24 students I will end up with closer to 30.

Since the theme to my classroom is ladybugs I buy ladybug bags at The Party Store.  The lady informed me this year that these bags are being discontinued so I may be in for a new classroom theme in the near future. If I decide to get "cutsy" I will put some decorative ribbon over the twist ties, not that my eight year olds notice things like that! This years bags have a balloon, Twix bar, fun ball, playdough and fruit snacks (these are always popular with my kiddos.

TPT Conference 2015 fun!

I just got back from having a great time at the Teachers Pay Teachers Conference in Las Vegas. We got to stay at a suite in The Venetian (a really nice hotel on the strip). Wow! The suite was so incredible! I was so excited to be able to stay there because I had never been there before.

The conference was at The Venetian and there were 1,100 teachers that came from all over the world. They came from places like Australia, England,France, New York, Texas and so many more parts of the world. It was amazing! We were able to spend time networking and socializing and attending classes with so much great information!

It was so fun watching people win prizes. When their names were called they would run down like they were on The Price is Right. It was hysterical.

I am so glad I was able to attend. I learned so much information that I am going to be able to use to help more teachers perfect their lessons. I met so many wonderful teachers and people that I truly admire.
